Navstride is a free outdoor route planning and GPS navigation tool available at navstride.com. For questions about this policy, contact us at [email protected].
Account information
When you create an account we collect your email address and a hashed (encrypted) version of your password. We never store your password in plain text.
Routes
Routes you save are stored on our servers. This includes the route name, activity type, distance, elevation data, waypoints, and the full route geometry (GPS coordinates). Routes you mark as public are visible to all visitors. Private routes are visible only to you.
Recorded activities
When you use the Navigate or Record features, we store your activity data: distance, elapsed time, pace, elevation gain, and a GPS track of your actual path. This data is private and visible only to you.
Photos and comments
Photos and comments you add to public routes are stored on our servers and are publicly visible.
Community reports
When you submit a trail condition report, we store the report location, condition type, and any optional note you provide. Reports are linked to your account but displayed anonymously to other users.
Usage data
We do not use third-party analytics services. We do not track your browsing behaviour across other websites. We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising.
We use the data we collect solely to provide and improve Navstride:
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or marketing purposes. We do not sell your data to any third party.
To deliver core features, Navstride sends certain data to the following third-party services. We do not control their privacy practices — see the links below for their policies.
No other third-party services receive your personal data. We do not use advertising networks, social login providers, or analytics platforms.
Routes you mark as public, photos you upload to public routes, and comments you post are visible to all visitors including people who do not have an account. Your display name (derived from your email address) is shown alongside your public content.
If you make a route private again, it will no longer appear in the Route Explorer, but any photos or comments attached to it will be removed from public view.
We retain your data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, all of your data is permanently deleted from our servers: your account, all saved routes, all recorded activities, uploaded photos, comments, and community reports. This cannot be undone.
You can delete your account at any time from the Account page.
Depending on where you are located, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
If you are in the UK or EU and wish to exercise any rights not available through the app, or if you have a complaint about how we handle your data, please contact us at [email protected].
Passwords are hashed using bcrypt before storage — we cannot read your password, and neither can anyone who gains access to our database. All connections to navstride.com are encrypted via HTTPS. We do not log or store authentication tokens.
No system is perfectly secure. If you discover a security issue, please report it to [email protected].
Navstride is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
If we make significant changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Navstride after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify registered users by email.
